Executors

An executor is the person or organisation responsible for ensuring that the instructions contained in your Will are carried out after you have died. This means that the executor will need to identify the size of your estate (all of your assets and possessions) and understand if you have any debts.

They will then pay any debts from the funds in the estate including taxes and funeral expenses, before distributing the remainder of your estate in accordance with the instructions in your Will.

This can be a complicated role and some people prefer to appoint a professional to deal with the estate. Irwin Mitchell is able to offer executorships & estate administration services which would ensure distribution of your estate by experienced professionals familiar with the procedure involved.
